Is the PC on the server? Rent and host servers overseas? What's the problem? In theory, a personal computer can be used as a server, but it must be ensured that any computer connected to the Internet can be accessed through the public IP. Secondly, personal computers such as servers have three major disadvantages:
First, bandwidth. The bandwidth of general home computers is about 512KB-2MB, and some are 4MB. However, the bandwidth of this scale can accommodate a very limited number of online users at the same time, up to about 20. If the number of users increases, the website will be congested or unable to open normally. If it is a small personal website or only for some small groups to browse, it can barely support, but if it is open to the outside world, it is difficult to meet the needs.
Second, online time. After all, a home computer is not a real server and cannot work online for a long time. In a few days or weeks, the PC will have to shut down and rest. At this time, the website cannot be accessed normally, and users will suffer some losses. A real server can be online for months or even years, which greatly guarantees the online time.
3、 Security issues Personal computers, even security firewalls or security software, are ordinary non professional versions, which are difficult to protect the host, and may cause information leakage or website closure. Most real servers are equipped with professional software and hardware protection. Professionals provide technical support 24 hours a day, which can be more secure in terms of security. Although we can understand that the personal webmaster does not have enough financial support and hopes to save costs as much as possible, from any point of view, personal computers are not suitable for use as servers, so we can consider renting servers to reduce costs.
