Many people may not know the name of the server RAID card, but more people are accustomed to calling them array cards. Its function is to form logical volumes of multiple physical hard disks. To improve RAID performance and prevent data loss in case of power failure, the RAID card is usually configured as cache and battery. Next, Micronet will teach you how to expand the server RAID, and summarize the super simple steps to help you better configure the server.
First, we need to add a hard disk drive to the server. Open CTRL+R to enter the RAID card configuration interface. Two raid configurations are available. The raid capacity is 111.250 g and the other is 4.364T2.
Step 2: Check whether the newly added hard disk has Foreign information. Under the Foreign View tab, there are two Disk Group information, one of which is Disk Group: 2Raid10 (Foreign) information. This information indicates that the RAID information contained in the hard disk currently connected to the Raid card is inconsistent with the information stored on the RAID card. It needs to be synchronized. There are two synchronization methods, Import and Clear.
Step 3: Import will synchronize the RAID information from the hard disk to the RAID card, while Clear will clear the RAID information of the hard disk. If you want to replace the standby machine, you need to import the RAID information on the hard disk into the RAID card. This scenario is to show that the RAID group already exists for the newly added hard disk drive, so the foreign information in the hard disk needs to be cleared.
Step 4: After clearing the information book, when RAID reopens the configuration page, the ForeignView tag will disappear, and three unconfigured physical disks will appear, which are our newly added hard disks.
In the last step, we usually cannot add a new hard disk for the existing RAID in the RAID card configuration interface, so we can only use the MagaCli tool inside the system in the next step. Click esc, save and exit, and restart the server.
The above is a brief introduction to the breakdown of some operating steps of server RAID expansion. In fact, if you don't understand this, Micronet suggests that we should find professional server suppliers and let them find professional staff to solve problems for us, so as to avoid worries in the future. If you have more questions about the server, please consult Micronet. Micronet is an IDC service provider focusing on server rental and hosting.
