Domain name requirements for government websites
When building websites for different types of government departments, they need to register, prepare corresponding government website domain names and apply for filing according to the following requirements:

• Local people's governments at or above the county level and departments under the State Council: The government portal website shall use the English domain name of "www.XXX. gov.cn" structure and apply for filing. Where XXX is the pinyin or English string corresponding to the name of the region or department.

• Provincial and municipal government departments: the government portal website shall use the subordinate English domain name of the people's government portal website at the same level, with the structure of "AAA. XXX. gov.cn", and apply for filing. Where AAA is the pinyin or English string corresponding to the name of the department, and XXX is the pinyin or English string corresponding to the name of the region or the department.
  
• Grass roots units of departments under the State Council that implement vertical management: the government portal website set up shall use the subordinate domain name of the portal website of departments under the State Council, with the structure of "AAA. XXX. gov.cn", and apply for filing. Where AAA is the pinyin or English string corresponding to the name of the department, and XXX is the pinyin or English string corresponding to the name of the region or the department.
