In the process of using ECS instances, if you think the current instance configuration is too high and want to reduce the configuration to reduce costs, you can use the renewal and configuration reduction function to renew the instance at any time before the instance is released, and set the instance configuration to be reduced in the new billing cycle.

You can also use the renewal and configuration reduction function to complete the following tasks:

• Reselect the CPU and memory configurations.
• Reselect the value of public network bandwidth and DDOS defense.
• Appointment restart time and renewal time.

matters needing attention

When performing the renewal and configuration reduction operation, you need to pay attention to the following points:

• Renewal and configuration reduction can only be performed after 5 days of new purchase
• Renewal and configuration reduction means that the instance type can be reduced at the same time.
• Disk configuration reduction is not supported for renewal.
• After renewal and configuration reduction, the new configuration will take effect in the new billing cycle, and the configuration will not change in the remaining time of the current billing cycle.
• When you submit a renewal configuration reduction, you need to set an appointment restart time. The configuration remains unchanged before restart, and the configuration reduction takes effect after restart. (The customer's self restart before the scheduled restart time will not cause the configuration reduction to take effect)
• After renewal and configuration reduction, the remaining time of the current billing cycle cannot be Upgrade configuration 、 Create Snapshot 、 renew Please operate carefully.
• The renewal order cannot be cancelled after payment is successful.

Operation steps

Follow the steps below to reduce the configuration while continuing the ECS instance:

• Login, console
• Select "ECS" on the left, and select the "ECS instance" that needs to be downgraded and renewed

• Click "Management" to enter the ECS details page, and select the "Renewal and Configuration Reduction" function from the drop-down list in "More Operations"

• On the "Renewal and Configuration Reduction" page, modify the configuration items that need configuration reduction

• "Reservation restart time" is 48 hours after the expiration time before the instance is not renewed, and the normal operation "renewal and configuration reduction" can also be performed during the period when the instance is expired and not released

• After the operation is completed, click "Confirm" to enter the payment interface to pay the newly configured renewal amount
